Well, we mourned the loss of the Giants today (sorry Iggles fans) as we introduced our kind neighbors to American football. After a week of running around we chilled at the homefront. Tomorrow, Catherine starts school, we get cable and a car.... "God willin"... as is said frequently here in Trinidad.
We saw some great stuff yesterday on the Northeast coast. There is a large reef there so the waves break far out. Hence, these beaches are known for surfing. We saw some boards and surfers, but no one actually out in the water. We're told they go out in the morning. There were some dramatically rocky areas, and the proverbial lighthouse.
I have taken to cooking what is available and tonight's dinner consisted of fried plantains, rice, chicken, patchoi (bokchoy), chana (chick peas), and eggplant. Something for everyone, and no wheat! We have found food prices to be very expensive, along with everything else, and we all seem content to give up meat for the next few months. Still looking for fresh fish - the boats hadn't gotten in yesterday when we were headed home from the beach.
